3rd Grade Literacy Project: Distriubtion (DateTBD)
Mar. 17, 2026

The labels are on, the boxes are packed, and the kids are waiting! It’s time to deliver our literacy project books to the 3rd-grade classrooms. There is nothing quite like the look on a student's face when they realize the book is theirs to keep. We need 2-3 volunteers to represent our Rotary Club at each of our six elementary schools to:

  • Introduce themselves and briefly explain what Rotary does (on a community and international level).
  • Talk to the students about the joy of reading
  • Ready: Andy & Elmer's Apple Dumpling Adventure Book to the class.
  • Reminder to leave a copy for each classroom and librarian.
  • Distribute cooresponding Activity Books & Bookmarks

Note: Please wear your Rotary shirt and/or pin and arrive 15 minutes early to sign in at the school office. The Principal should usually walks to each class with us.

Thank you!

3rd Grade Literacy Project: Labeling
Mar. 19, 2026 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Many Hands Needed: 3rd Grade Literacy Project Labeling Party!

Our 3rd Grade Literacy Project is moving into the next phase! The books have been delivered to Central Office. Before we can get these books into the hands of local students, we need to add our Rotary sponsor labels to each copy. The book we chose this year is Andy and Elmer's Apple Dumpling Adventure (supplied by Rotary Club of Fairborn, Ohio) which focuses on ethics, entrepreneurship, and making good choices. The storyline speaks about the Four-Way Test.

Date: Thursday, March 19th @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: 206 E. Holly Ave - Sewell (Board Room)

We’re looking for volunteers to help us peel, stick, and prep the books for distribution. It’s a simple task, but a vital one to ensure the students know these books come with the support of our club. Please see the available time slots below and sign up to help us! Note, Labeling Teams 1-4 are not applicable.  The sign up settings just wouldn't allow more than 10 per "labeling team".

Stay Tuned: Next Sign Up is for book distribution day (Date: TBD) at each of our six elementary schools!
